Our documentary film, "For the Sake of the Children"

"For the Sake of the Children" shares the stories and reveals the multi-generational emotional impact of the forced Japanese incarceration during World War II.

Our first film screening with a question and answer session following was held at the West Los Angeles United Methodist Church. Panelists: Alan Nishio, Marlene Shigekawa, and Scott Naakatari  as moderator.  June 4, 2017

Another film screening was held at the Japanese American National Museum, Takeuchi Democracy Forum Theater. A post-screening panel discussion on civil liberties and human rights followed with Hussam Ayloush, Executive Director of Council of American-Islamic Relations, Greater Los Angeles Area; Monica Embrey, 4^th generation Manzanar descendent and interim Director of Greenpeace’s Movement Hub US; Niels Frenzen, Professor of Law, Director of Immigration Clinic, USC; Alan Nishio, Chairman of the Board of Governors, Little Tokyo Service Center; and Jennie Pasquarella, Director of Immigrants’ Rights, ACLU of California. At the Museum of the Moving Image with directors, Joe Fox and Marlene Shigekawa in conjunction with the "Self-Interned, 1942: Noguchi in Poston War Relocation Center" exhibit, during the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066, the wartime directive that authorized the incarceration of Japanese citizens and American citizens of Japanese ancestry.  A post-screening discussion with the filmmakers was moderated by Shannon Murphy, Head of Education at The Noguchi Museum. May 7, 2017.
