World War II veteran Don S. Miyada (Poston 37-8-B) of Westminster, California attended the ceremony honoring the Japanese American World War II veterans of the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team at the Washington Hilton in Washington, Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011.
Nearly 70 years after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the U.S. Congress honored theJapanese-American military units that helped the United States win World War II on two fronts despite the hardships endured by many troops’ families back home, most of them imprisoned away from home.
