Postage Marks  

 Poston was opened as  "Parker Dam" on May 8 1942 and had a peak population of 11,738 and was renamed "Poston" on May 31,1942.

The cover is franked with a 3-cent National Defense stamp and is cancelled with a steel duplex handstamp dated May 22, 1942 - just before it was officially renamed. Note that the return address is for the ’Poston Reception Center’.
